My New Love: Pinterest

Posted by on Dec 2, 2011 in Blog | 0 comments

Social media has been the most effective way for myself to grow both of my companies. Social media didn’t just generate revenue for myself but it built up my personal brand as an online marketer/publicist and helped connect me to people whom I would have never met without it.

My ménage à trois has been with the following:

  • Twitter is great to connect and converse in under 140 characters to people who may be normally considered “unreachable.”
  • Facebook is a valuable way to stay in touch with people you already know (or at least once knew).
  • Blogging has been a place where I am my own celebrity and have the freedom to write whatever I want. Here I can be creative, share secrets, tips and my everyday life journeys.

I’ve also come to really like YouTube, Google+ and LinkedIn (and if you want to know more about those you will have to keep coming back to my blog!).

I’ve recently entered a social media affair with Pinterest. Holy moly, is it ever fun. If you are a visual person this is the website for you!

Wikipedia says the following (yes, I quoted because I don’t see the point in making up my own definition for the educational purpose of this blog): Pinterest (Pin-tũr-ĕst) is a vision board-styled social photo sharing website and app where users can create and manage theme-based image collections. The mission statement of Pinterest is to connect everyone in the world through shared tastes and the “things” they find interesting. Pinterest is managed by a team based out of Palo Alto, California. Noted entrepreneurs and investors include: Kristen Bain and Dominique Marbley. (Just in case you care about who created it).

If you like clicking around on pictures and seeing what your friends are interested in this is where you want to be!

If you need gift ideas or be inspired to cook something new, this is where you want to be!

If you need a place to organize your online findings in a prettier way than bookmarking, this is where you need to be!

What a board on Pinterest looks like.

Last but not least, if you want to promote your work, art or anything you vainly want people to know about YOU NEED TO BE ON PINTEREST because it helps your work go viral.

Check out my boards and happy pinning!
